Why The Davidson Academy?

We are often asked why we are supporting our nation’s brightest students with a special school like The Davidson Academy. Our answer is two-fold. It’s the right thing to do for the students, and it’s the right thing to do for our nation.

Every student should have the opportunity to learn in school. That may seem like a reasonable standard for public education, but when it comes to our nation’s brightest students, that standard is often ignored. The profoundly gifted students in our nation’s schools are the most likely to fall through the cracks; they are the ones experiencing the greatest gap between their potential and the curriculum they are provided.

We believe that supporting profoundly gifted students also supports our country’s future. Our nation needs talented individuals to compete in the global economy. Most of our public schools assign students a curriculum based upon their chronological age. The Davidson Academy focuses on the individual student and provides an appropriately challenging curriculum based upon their abilities.

As founders, and as funders, we are committed to The Davidson Academy’s success. It is our priority to staff the school with dedicated instructors and administrators who are willing and able to help profoundly gifted students thrive in an innovative educational environment. The Academy has the flexibility to define a path and improve upon it when necessary to ensure that we are addressing the needs of the students.
