Welcome to Davidson Academy Admissions - Find Your Academic Home!
The Davidson Academy offers two accredited educational options specifically designed to meet the needs of profoundly gifted students – an online campus for those living anywhere in the U.S. and a day school on the University of Nevada, Reno campus for local residents. The full-time online school further strengthens the Davidson Academy’s commitment to the profoundly gifted population by bringing the Davidson Academy experience to students whose families are unable to relocate to Reno. Both options are centered on a rigorous academic environment where students can thrive among their intellectual peers.
Our Personalized Learning Plan (PLP) process allows students to take control of their education with classes grouped by ability, not age.
Single-Course Enrollments are now
available through the Davidson Academy's online campus!
The 2021-2022 Online campus application deadline is January 31, 2021. The 2021-2022 Reno campus application deadline is March 31, 2021.
Davidson Academy Online is for profoundly gifted students living anywhere in the United States and Canada (see the Online campus section of this website). For the 2021-2022 academic year, a full array of accredited high school courses will be offered. Applicants must submit appropriate test scores according to the Davidson Academy Qualification Criteria and commit to being full-time students.
For Nevada residents, both options – attending either the online or Reno campus – are free, and there is no application and assessment fee. However, out-of-state students must pay an application and assessment fee and, if accepted, tuition calculated based upon family annual income, cost of living adjustment based on location of primary residence, the number of dependents in the household, and other relevant factors used to determine a personalized tuition level for each family. Visit the How to Apply page to start the application process.
Additionally, tuition based single-course enrollments are now offered. These courses are tuition free for Nevada residents.
The Academy’s free, public day school for profoundly gifted students is located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. For middle and high school students living in the Reno area, classes are grouped by ability level, rather than by age-based grades, thereby providing profoundly gifted young people an educational opportunity matched to their abilities, strengths and interests. To attend the Davidson Academy's Reno campus, students must be at the middle or high school level across all subject areas and score in the 99.9th percentile on IQ or college entrance tests, such as the ACT or SAT. Please visit the Qualification Criteria and How to Apply pages for details.
"Applying can be sort of a scary process, but trust me, it’s definitely worth it. The Academy is an amazing school, from academics to community and everything in between. If you’ve read the student profiles in our eNewsletter, you’ve probably already read about our engaging classes and helpful teachers, our strong sense of community and support, and it’s all true. Here at the Academy, you’ll find a learning community unlike that of any other school; the students are invested in their education and the teachers go above and beyond to foster that love of learning." ~Davidson Academy Student
