Davidson Academy student helps launch financial-literacy nonprofit

Davidson Academy exterior

Davidson Academy exteriorDavidson Academy junior Sathvik Vadlakunta was recently featured in This Is Reno for helping launch Incentive, a student-led nonprofit focused on making practical financial education more accessible to young people.

Sathvik’s interest in the topic began after taking a financial-literacy class in middle school. While the course introduced some concepts, he wanted more practical guidance on topics such as opening a bank account, creating a budget, building credit, saving, and investing.

Now, through Incentive, Sathvik and fellow student Matthew Park are working to help students build those real-world skills. The nonprofit offers free, student-led financial-literacy workshops as well as online lessons covering budgeting, saving, credit, and investing. According to This Is Reno, Incentive has chapters in six states, and more than 200 students have used its curriculum.

Congratulations to Sathvik on this meaningful work and the recognition of Incentive’s growing impact.
