Davidson Academy Team Wins Nevada Science Bowl, Advances to National Finals For 7th Year in a Row

Team holding check for $5,000

The Davidson Academy Science Bowl Club’s Team A took first place at the 35th annual Nevada Science Bowl, held in Las Vegas on January 31. Competing in a 24-team field, the team—Alexander Weaver, Filip Ramazan, Julian Kuang, Lucas Wu, and Yajur Chandar—earned $5,000 in prize money and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., where they will represent Nevada at the 36th annual National Science Bowl Finals this spring.

This achievement marks the Academy’s 7th consecutive Nevada regional championship and its 11th appearance at the state competition.

The National Science Bowl is a fast-paced academic competition that brings together thousands of middle and high school students from across the country. Teams solve complex technical problems and answer questions across a range of scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, Earth and space science, physics, and mathematics.

In addition to preparing for the national finals in Washington, D.C., the team will compete in the Stanford Science Bowl Invitational in March. Congratulations to Team A on this outstanding accomplishment and for representing the Davidson Academy on the state and national stage.
